Star Micronics is the only receipt printer manufacturer that ships their printers with drivers for Mac OS X. Fortunately, Star Micronics makes a great printer, the TSP-100.

The Star printers come with a tear bar or a an auto-cutter. They can be configured to open a cash drawer when a receipt is printed.

There are two ways to connect a cash drawer to a LightSpeed station. You can either connect the drawer to a Star Micronics Printer or directly to the computer via serial or USB cable. LightSpeed has been tested with APG and Herritage Cash Drawers that connect through the Star printer and APG serial drawers with a Keyspan USB Adapter.

Cash drawers come in a variety of sizes and colors and can be configured to meet your individual needs. Please contact Xsilva for more information on cash drawer configurations.

LightSpeed supports any USB barcode scanner that can be configured to do a carriage return at the end of scan. Scanners that do not come configured out of the box to do a carriage return can be programmed by scanning barcodes included with the scanner. Consult your scanner's documentation for more detail.

Credit card swipes are used if you want to process credit cards directly within LightSpeed. You do not have to process credit cards in LightSpeed - you can use an external credit card terminal and enter the credit card and authorization data into LightSpeed manually.

LightSpeed does not currently process debit cards. If you wish to take debit cards as a form of payment, you will still require an external terminal.

LightSpeed supports one and two track card readers. Consult your card swipe's documentation or contact Xsilva to determine if your model is supported.

The IntelliScanner SOHO is a portable smart scanner that stores barcodes, slashing the time it takes you to count your inventory, enter and receive POs, or invoice out products, even if they're serialized! Invoice goods that are in a warehouse, or receive from a pallet with lightning speed and absolute accuracy! Compiles complex documents in seconds.

LightSpeed supports the DYMO LabelWriter 450 and the DYMO LabelWriter 450 Turbo for product and customer labels.

Sheets of labels in supported formats can also be printed with standard ink jet and laser printers.

Table-Top Displays can be used to show the customer the product code, price, running total and sale total. LightSpeed also supports Logic Controls Serial Pole Displays (PD-3000) connected with a Keyspan serial adapter.
